Keynote Speaker Website with an Ocean Twist

Matt Kalb is a keynote speaker who wanted a website to showcase his talks, workshops, and leadership work — but with a personal touch. His favorite hobby? Scuba diving.
I designed and built a custom site that not only promotes his professional offerings but also reflects his love for the ocean through a clean, immersive, sea-inspired theme. The result is a unique blend of personal identity and professional presence.

Immersive Hero Animation

Ripple Effect Water Animation — To reflect Matt’s love for scuba diving, I designed a ripple effect in the hero section — creating the feel of water gently moving in the background. This subtle GSAP animation adds depth and sets the tone for the site’s ocean-inspired theme.

Custom Book Library UI

To keep the site scalable and easy to manage, I built a custom post type in WordPress for Matt’s book recommendations. Each book entry includes fields for the title, a short description, a longer synopsis (shown on click), and a direct Amazon link.

Book Club with a Personal Touch

We created a surreal underwater staircase visual using AI, blending mystery and depth for Matt’s Book Club. To help with pronunciation, Matt recorded himself saying the club’s French name — adding a human, authentic detail to the experience.

Custom Post Type for a Dynamic Book Library

I set up a custom taxonomy for categories, giving us full control over:
The main library page, where users can filter by category
Individual category pages, dynamically generated via query
A homepage section, showing Matt’s top 3 books using a targeted loop
Using Breakdance Builder’s post loop, I was able to reuse layouts throughout the site — keeping everything consistent, flexible, and easy for Matt to update later without touching code.

Ocean-Inspired Footer Design

The site closes with a striking parallax footer image of Matt underwater, reinforcing his personal brand. The layered scroll animation creates depth and keeps users engaged through the final moments on the page.
